Giesbers Groep is working in construction, project and area development. René aan de Stegge, entrepreneur and owner, developed The Blue Guideline with and for Giesbers Groep. It is an entrepreneurial philosophy which is now also being applied by Karuna Foundation.Giesbers Groep has been supporting Karuna Foundation since the start in 2007.



Impulsis is the joint programme of Edukans, ICCO and Kerk in Actie (Church in Action) for supporting Dutch initiatives in their work with local organizations in developing countries. Karuna Foundation has been a partner of Impulsis since 2008. 

 
Eureko Achmea Foundation aims to actively contribute to a sustainable improvement of the socio-economic environment of those in need in society both in the Netherlands and abroad, by making financial resources available. EAF supports projects aimed at a structural improvement of disadvantaged groups.


PARTNERSHIPS
 
IN NEPAL
In Nepal there are many partners without whom our mission and goals can’t be achieved.
Partnerships with and support from:

  • Minsitry of Health and Population of Nepal
    • The District Health Offices of Sunsari, Kavre and Rasuwa district. They are the focal health agencies of the Government of Nepal in the districts. Karuna works with them to plan, implement and evaluate the programs. Their human resources, technical and material support are vital towards making our programs successful.
    • The Health Facility Operation and Management Committees (HFOMC) in every village is the formally constituted body, under the Government of Nepal’s decentralization initiative, responsible for operating, managing and regulating local health facilities. Each HFOMC owns and implements the Share&Care program in its village. It takes care of the (financial) participation by the community, as well as the managerial aspect.
  • Resource Centre for Rehabilitation and Development (RCRD) in Bhaktapur in intensively training the rehabilitation workers.
  • PLAN NEPAL in scholarship and other support for children with a disability
  • PHECT Nepal in medical intervention of children having cleft lip and palate and post burn contractures
  • CBR Biratnagar for assistive devices for the children with disabilities
  • Hospital and Rehabilitation centre for the Disabled Children.(HRDC) for orthopaedic surgeries.
  • Dhulikel Hospital for referral of patients from Kavre. 
  • Kathmandu Model Hospital for referral of patients from Rasuwa.
  • BP Koirala Institure for Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan for providing referral services are the hands put forward to achieving our targets.
  • The Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre (SIRC) offers rehabilitation services to patients so that they are able to rebuild their lives within the limits of their ability. Karuna Foundation has an agreement with SIRC to sponsor some poor patients yearly, preferable from the Karuna project areas.


In HOLLAND Karuna coordinates with the following organizations:

Enablement is an advice, research and training desk in the area of disability in developing countries. The founder of Enablement, Huib Cornielje, is one of Karuna’s advisors.

Madat Nepal is a Dutch foundation with different projects mainly focussing on education and health in Nepal. They are very active in one of the areas of Kavre Palanchowk where also Karuna has a project and we coordinate and work together on a water project in the village of Mechchhe.

Women for Womenprovides medical support to women in Nepal, mainly focussing on prolapsus of the uterus, a frequent medical problem in Nepal. Apart from the medical treatment, Women for Women also focuses on education, awareness and research in her project areas. Women for Women implements trainings and health camps for women in the same project areas as Karuna Foundation.

Sathsathai aims to improve the income, living, and work situation of the population of the Timal region in Nepal. Prior to the start of Karuna Foundation Nepal, Ben Kruk made preparatory investigations. After that he examined the feasibility of a comprehensive development model in Nepal. 

FEMI (Foundation for Earth, Mankind through Inspiration and Initiative) offers opportunities to people, young and old, to achieve a more dignified existence in a more sustainable manner. It offers inspiration based on mutual respect and equality in collaboration and rapport towards active involvement and creativity. Karuna Foundation was assigned by FEMI Foundation to conduct a feasibility study of the project Share&Care in the area of Mtakuja village. 
 
MDF (Management Development Foundation) Training & Consultancy is a world-wide training and consultancy agency. Their mission is to enhance management capacities of professionals and organisations in the development sector. Niek Bakker, senior consultant of MDF, gives regular coaching and training to the Dutch Karuna team.

Van Stokkom is the consultancy of Mr. Henk van Stokkom, who since January 1996 has been active as a grant policy advisor for a number of charity funds and occasionally for various other clients in the non-profit sector. 
   
 
In INDIA representatives of Karuna regularly visit organizations involved in community based health insurance: 
 
 

The Micro Insurance Academy (MIA), based in Delhi, is an Indian Charitable Trust dedicated to training, research, technical assistance and advisory services for microinsurance units serving the poor. The institution is dedicated to providing technical assistance to grassroots communities and organisations in insurance domain knowledge. They regularly advice and support Karuna Foundation Nepal in improvement of health insurance education.


BAIF is an Indian development organization based in Pune, which is focusing on the improvement of earnings and work opportunities for rural families. The organization has experience in the setting up of a micro insurance system for women’s groups. On behalf of BAIF, Dr. Srikant Khadilkar is supporting and consulting Karuna Foundation regarding the development and implementation of the Share and Care system in poor rural communities in Nepal.

Assist is an Indian organization for comprehensive development of rural villages set up in 1985. The development of India must start at the village level, 'because independence must begin at the bottom'. Karuna Foundation will make use of the experience and knowledge of Assist in the implementation of its projects. 
 
DHAN Foundation (Development for Humane Action), a professional development organisation, was initiated in 1997. It brings motivated, educated young women and men to the development sector. They would make new innovations in development to root out poverty from the country. The Foundation works to make significant changes in the livelihoods of the poor through innovative health insurance and micro finance themes and institutions.
