Dhana Devi (33) lives in Amchowk, a remote village in the Nepalese ‘tea-district’ Ilam. She has a 6-year-old son and has recently gave birth to her second child. During her pregnancy, she participated in the Best Wishes programme of Inspire2Care, together with other pregnant women in her neigborhood. Best Wishes is the prevention component of the Inspire2Care model, that aims at the prevention of birth defects. The programme emphasizes the importance of prenatal check-ups, professionally guided deliveries, healthy nutrition, hygiene and other important measures for a safe pregnancy and a healthy child.
