Karuna Foundation

Karuna’s strength is to pioneer and create something new. Therefore, in 2007, we decided to build up a new and professional organisation, in the Netherlands and in Nepal. Our organization in the Netherlands is small and efficient and tries to serve and motivate our organisation in Nepal who plays a key role in achieving our goal and mission.

Karuna Foundation Nepal consists of Nepali mostly academic professionals. They know their country and culture and often have experienced themselves the hardship of poverty. They are capable to listen to the needs and priorities of the community people and try to play a role as change agents.

Karuna Foundation is a learning organisation. We constantly make an analysis of the local situation by listening well, basing our work on the cultural values and opinions and thinking critically. Based on the lessons and experiences we regularly assess our vision, mission and strategies and readjust them if and wherever necessary.
We regularly visit projects and organisations in India to learn and to get inspired. We visited Dhan Foundation in Madurai, Assist in Andra Pradesh and BAIF in Pune.

Karuna Foundation Nepal is a member of

The Association of International NGOs (AIN), formed by INGOs working in Nepal in September 1996, is an important network in the development sector of Nepal as members have been implementing various people-centered development programmes throughout the hills, mountains and Terai areas.

Karuna Foundation Holland is a member of

The Dutch Coalition on Disability and Development is a coalition in which persons and organisations operating in the field of disability, development cooperation and service-provision are united. DCDD’s mission is to work for the inclusion and social participation of people with disabilities who live in situations of poverty and exclusion, from the perspective of human rights and solidarity.

Partos is the national platform for Dutch civil society organisations in the international development cooperation sector.
