Results

All projects and activities contribute to Karuna’s mission and to the ambition to develop a sustainable health care model, including prevention and rehabilitation. Therefore clear and provable results are needed. Continuous information about process and results is available to be able to adjust strategies and processes.  

 
Summary of the results:
  • Karuna Foundation has a leading position in the field of Community Based Health Insurance, as well as Community Based Rehabilitation in Nepal.
  • 35.000 people from 7 villages (in 3 districts) have access to improved health care and prevention activities.
  • 2225 households (12.500 people) from these villages are member of the community based health insurance scheme.
  • 4 of the 7 villages are financially sustainable after 3 years.
  • 660 children with a disability have been reached (rehabilitation). 
  • Maternal and child health indicators have improved with 5% (vaccinations, antenatal check ups, attended deliveries)
  • 150 children have been born healthy assuming that without any intervention they would have been born or developed a disability in their early years.
