Training of 380 health workers on Medic Mobile

In the period December- January 2021 a total of 380 health workers are being trained by the staff of Medic Mobile in the use of mobile phones for data collection and sending messages on Ante and Post Natal Check Ups.

The impact study of the DPRP

The impact study of the DPRP has started with the base line survey. Interviews are implemented by researchers from our partner organisation Solutions in Nepal in close cooperation with dr Pierre Pratley from the Royal Tropical Institute Amsterdam. First results are expected in March 2021.

Restart and commitment government

After almost 3 months of lock-down, the Karuna Foundation Nepal is restarting its work in the municipalities and all staff are back in office eager to catch up with the work.  In the last week of June also, the provincial government has approved the plans and budget for the coming fiscal year.

A new policy act

The government of Province 1 adopts the Inspire2Care programme in their care and social development policy and signed a new act. They have expressed their intention to implement the program by strengthening their local health and social institutions and by allocating budgets for its implementation.

Agreement

The two boards of KarunaNL and Karuna Foundation Nepal signed a MOU (memorandum of understanding), on the cooperation and conditions for funding.

Start of Karuna NL foundation

Four foundations have combined their forces in funding and support the scaling of the Inspire2Care program in the whole of Province 1 in Nepal. They set up a new legal entity called the KarunaNL foundation. Funders are the Dutch foundations: Ineke Feitz, Weeshuis der Doopsgezinden and Perspectief. UBS Optimus Foundation is the fourth funding partner.
